Diamond released their sales numbers over the weekend and ICv2 has extrapolated those and determined actual unit sales: Top 300 Comics Actual and Top 300 Graphic Novels Actual. Also worth noting is Diamond’s Top Ten Books. These numbers are for Diamond’s direct sales in North America only and don’t include Diamond UK or the bookstore market. It’s worth reading the additional information under the sales charts.
For the purposes of the AE Index, where we record initial sales month, one Artist Edition style book published in August 2016 made the sales chart.
|240||Mike Mignola’s The Amazing Screw-On Head and Other Curious Objects Artist’s Edition||564|
|NA||Frank Miller’s Sin City: The Hard Goodbye Curator’s Collection||NA|
Mignola’s first Artist’s Edition sold 1921 its first month, so this is a significant drop. Of course it doesn’t have Hellboy in the title to sell it.
The last listed book in the list sold 436 units, meaning Miller’s Sin City Curator’s Collection sold less than that through Diamond. Dark Horse doesn’t use Diamond as their book distributor so those numbers are unknown to us, but I would factor in Amazon as a large seller.
