Diamond released their August 2018 sales numbers over the weekend and Comichron has extrapolated those and determined actual unit sales. These numbers are for Diamond’s direct sales in North America only and don’t include Diamond UK or the bookstore market. It’s worth reading the additional information under the sales charts.
For the purposes of the AE Index, where we record initial sales month, four Artist Edition style books were published in August 2018, and two made the sales chart.

John Byrne’s X-Men Artifact Edition was listed in the books category while AE format books are normally listed with Graphic Novels. The two titles that did not rank could also have been in books category but we only see the Top 10.
Diamond sales will never accurately represent or report the Artist’s Edition format market because it’s too small of a data pool. We won’t know more until publishers are willing to share their sales data.
